About Project
Tamil Nadu Cancer Registry Project (TNCRP) is a
collaborative study by the Cancer Institute (W.I.A) and the Department of Health
and Family Welfare (DoH&FW), Government of Tamil Nadu for statewide cancer
surveillance since year 2012.

of the first report on cancer incidence and mortality in Tamil Nadu (2012-2016)
and estimates for 2017-2020.
TNCRP
data was accepted for publication in WHO-IARC Scientific Publications series
titled Cancer Incidence in Five Continents Vol XII.

Cancer Institute (WIA)
The Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, Chennai, also known as Adyar Cancer Institute is the pioneer in population-based cancer registration (PBCR) and hospital-based cancer registration (HBCR) in the state of Tamil Nadu.
DPH&PM
The DPH&PM was instrumental for getting the G.O. declaring cancer as a notifiable disease in the state of Tamil Nadu since year 2018 through the Tamil Nadu Cancer Registry Project (TNCRP).
Directorate of Medical Education
The medical colleges and allied hospitals under DME throughout the state of Tamil Nadu form the fulcrum of data sources on new cancer patients from government sector.
Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services
The district headquarter, taluk and non-taluk hospitals and other medical institutions under DMS throughout the state of Tamil Nadu form an important source of data collection on new cancer patients for Tamil Nadu Cancer Registry Project (TNCRP).
National Health Mission Tamil Nadu
NHM-TN is the chief advisory body on integrating the TNCRP data with cancer screening and early detection data in the state of Tamil Nadu.
NCDIR
NCDIR is located in Bengaluru and is a National institution under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The National Cancer Registry Program (NCRP) is its flagship activity networking numerous population-based and hospital-based cancer registries throughout the country.
